I have the sponge and I love it. However I haven't tried (and probably never will try lol because $20 for a sponge is crazy) the "real thing" but I do love the RT one. I tried a different one a while back and even when dampened it was still super hard and just sucked up all my foundation. I felt like I was hitting myself in the face with a foam dodgeball or something haha. The RT one is so soft and I like how it has the flat end so you can cover a bigger area. I'm a fan lol :)

I use the sponge everyday and I absolutely love it! It doesn't soak up all your foundations, it grows double the size when it's wet and it's so easy to clean! Makes my makeup look FLAWLESS. I haven't tried the beauty blender either. I may bite the bullet and buy one since EVERYONE says nothing fully compares to it. But for now, I'm happy with my RT.

Yea, I'm kind of the same, I only use mine to blend everything after applying with a brush for the most part. RT always impresses me though. I've yet to be disappointed by anything of theirs and I'm getting to the point where I own almost every brush haha. They make very good quality tools in my opinion :)
