Usually I try to exfoliate before I shave and moisturize a lot after...but my legs still look like chicken skin. I'm going to follow this in case someone has a better solution, strawberry/chicken legs suck!

I have the strawberry legs too. I've searched for a soulution for this many times. it opened pores that dirt gets trapped in. I have not seen a cure but I'm going to try using a bha acid on them. beta hydroxy is salicylic acid that works to clean out your pores. I've never seen it recommened but I'd like to see if it helps. now the chicken skin (bumps) are called KP keritosis pilaris when protein forms around the hair. you can treat this with a glycolic acid and moisturizing it worked for me

Do you guys mean it looks like razor bumps or like goose bumps when you get cold? if its razor bumps there are a few things you can do - the bumps happen when the skin is traumatized when hair is ripped from the follicle - so before you shave prep your skin by exfoliating gently - try a sugar scrub I love the ones by tree hut n they are super cheap - after exfoliation make sure you always use shave gel/cream and wet your skin with warm water - the warm water will open up your capillaries and make it easier to shave - also always make sure you have a sharp razor - dull razors cause more trauma so more bumps - also around areas with loose skin like the knees always pull the skin taught when shaving those areas to avoid nicks n cuts - finally after you shave then moisturize with a really good moisturizer - I would even suggest using an oil if your lotion is not moisturizing enough - baby oil will do if you can't afford something else like jojoba or coconut oil - if you follow all of these tips then it should help - I find when I follow everything perfectly then my legs are super smooth n soft at least until I have to shave again - hope that helps!

I'd recommend Soap & Glory's Butter Yourself body butter. It has alpha hydroxy acids in it. They help exfoliate away dead skin and when I was using it I didn't have a single bump or ingrown hair. It also moisturizes because it's a body butter so that also helps keep things smooth. It's my favorite body butter ever. (it's available at Sephora and soap & glory's website)
