I'm pale so I was considering a spray tan for prom. What are pros and cons of spray tanning and how long do they last.

In my experience spray tans come out a bit more orange than is really appealing. I like your skin tone and think you'll be more beautiful without.

The pros is that depending on how dark you want to go it gives you the shade of tan you want to be but the cons is that you could sweat off the tan and it won't look good at all.

If you decide to do it, don't get it the day before!! A friend of mine did and she was so so orange lol, just make sure you have time so it "wears off" or fades a little before the big day :)

If you sweat a lot it could like its dripping off you. I would say to use the tanning beds but don't go constantly. If you're prom is in the summer I would say once every week

I recommend actual tanning tho, you can control how dark you get and it won't sweat off lol :) doesn't take long before you have a nice glow either!

I have experience with spray tans and it does not 'sweat off' or look like it's dripping off you. It dries after 2-8 hours so that is literally impossible -.- There are different shades to choose from, you can ask for a medium tan seeing as you have pale skin :) I have pale skin and go for a medium shade. If you do decide to get one, I reckon do it 2-3 day's before hand because the colour will settle by then. I have had 50+ spray tans from all different places and they have never looked orange, the tan in a can is where the whole orange look comes from. Make sure you ask your tanner how long you have to wait before showering. and avoid water up until then, including doing the dishes etc ;) Wear something loose and flowy after youve been sprayed, and make sure you stand and sit up straight after having it done to avoid any marks from rolls lol if you have any!

Oh and if you moisturise daily and have fairly soft skin you can stretch the tan out to two weeks!

It could mess up your dress :( that happened to my friend because of her sweat and such.

I would recommend you going for the tanning beds and doing it just once or twice a week before prom rather then the spray tanning just to be safe. My personal experience with it has more cons then pros. But go for whatever you feel comfortable with!

Always spray tan over going to a tanning bed, dear! A bad burn from those nasty rays at a young age increases your chance of skin cancer significantly! I'm sure you would be careful, but there's always a risk. And it speeds up the aging process. I would say, get opinions from others who have been to the place you want to get your spray tan from, and always go a while before your event so it has time to fade if it's too intense. Have fun at your prom! ❤️

I didn't get one for my formal (I'm aussie, I don't know what else to call it haha!) and I regret not getting one, all my friends looked so glowy and nice but yeah :) haha.

Spray tan for sure. Just get it a few days before to get the true color. Before you go back sure you shave and exfoliate your legs and the rest of your body because if your have any dry skin it will show. Don't do a bed It's so bad for the skin.

I have fair skin as well and I feel your pain. Especially when everyone at prom looks like they just took a month long vacation to the beach and they're all glowing and tan and all that crap. Well I've never tried a spray tan but the people I've seen get them always turn out orange. I'm not saying that's always the case though. My bf's mom is a dermatologist and she always warns me to stay away from the tanning beds and has scared me away from them bc hey you could actually get skin cancer it's possible. I have tried the jergens moisturizer. NO GO. Turns out orange. I tried a VS self tanner the other day and it's pretty fabulous so maybe give that a try! Sorry this is so long.

A spray tan is OK, although its harmful to breathe in the fumes. There are some excellent self tanners out there, especially from St. Tropez. Or you can love your own beautiful skin and rock it the way it is!
