Braids work for that look :)
Sleep with braids over night. You can choose how many braids you do ^_^

You could braid it. Or heartless maybe the headband curls. Or with a curling wand just don't hold too long and then run your fingers trough a the end. And don't go in any specific pattern with the curls.

Looks like they did a wand and then a curling iron on every other section of hair.
