** Everything with an asterisk (*) is my opinion.

Pro's:
Uses sonic pulsations to clean deep down
**Great for blackheads and oiler skin types
Great for exfoliation.
Removes make up, and dirt.

Cons
**Not a good idea for dry to very dry skin.
**Not a good idea for sensitive skin types.
**Over priced ( I feel it as because you have to buy brush heads... it's pricey enough as it is. )
The replacing of the brush heads is not very good for the environment.
Abrasive ( Can cause broken capillaries and too much of it is actually damaging to the skin. )
Can cause chronic inflammation. ( Which can cause aging... )
**Very tempting to press on it, which can cause over exfoliation and can destroy healthy cells.
Because the Clarisonic uses a brush ( Nylon fibers ) it's brush heads can actually harbor dirt, mold, and bacteria so it's not the most hygienic tool.

Horror stories:

Cleansers of choice:
Salicylic Acid & Sulfur. ( This is a soap bar. It works wonders. )
Cerave Hydrating Cleanser.
I use both in conjuction with my Foreo Luna ( Another device like the Clarisonic.. My comparisons are on my blog here

Ya ^. I don't think it's good for your skin. A lot of people say they break out at first and sometimes its really really bad. They are then told to just keep using it because their skin is just purging. Just from my personal experience my skin doesn't need to go through any purging process or further inflammation period before it clears. I use origins clean energy oil cleanser and I love it. And in the morning I wash my face with some raw honey. It is acidic which is what your skin needs to be.

The lady at sephora told me it caused her and few others to have breakouts the first week.

I have the clairsonic. Been using it since Christmas. I'm going through the purging phase right now but hopefully it turns out well.

I just bought the mia 2 like 3 weeks ago. My skin was disgusting the first week using it but now I am starting to see my pores get smaller, and my skin looks a lot brighter and it gets less oily also. If youre willing to look terrible for a week or two, I'd go for it lol.

I've been using mine for a year or so now, and I do love it. I have acne, which in my case is genetic, but until I decided to go to a dermatologist recently, the Clarisonic was a huge part of helping control my acne. It has helped prevent a lot of cystic pimples for me, something I would get relatively often and now don't get so much. I've never experienced any sensitivity to it either, I can use it twice a day and not have any issues. I don't anymore, because I don't feel like I NEED it twice a day anymore. My face doesn't feel clean until I've used it though. It really does get everything out of the skin and I think that's a huge reason as to why it helps with acne. If used wrong, yes it could be a really awful experience. But I always tell people to don't do/do the following
- Don't grind it into the skin. It does all the work for you, just put it to your face and move from area to area.
- Make sure you're using the brush that is good for your skin type. Most if not all models come with the sensitive brush, but they have more options that are softer so I'd recommend trying them out because it may work better if you are finding the sensitive brush too harsh.
- Use the gentler setting if you have to!
- Use it only when you need it/find the frequency of use that's right for your skin. Just because a lot of people use it every day doesn't mean that's the only way to go. If you only need it twice a week or even less then do that because that's what's good for YOUR skin.

Really I think it's all about finding out what your skin can handle and adjusting it as needed and just figuring out what feels the best. I'd recommend comparing different models and seeing what features suit/don't suit your needs. They all more or less do the same thing (with the exception of the pedi and body devices and brushes) and the differences in price all come down to the model and its features. If you just need a very basic one you can get it down to roughly $100, maybe even less if you find a site with a deal. The purging phase is normal from my understanding as well. It's pulling all kinds of stuff out of the skin, the way a facial mask does, and of course those things are going to have the potential to cause breakouts. I'm going through the same thing now but because of prescription acne medication, unfortunately it just seems to be part of the process for most people.

Bottom line is, everyone's skin is different and will respond to different things and in different ways. If you are at a point where you want to try something new, I would try it. You can get it from Sephora or Ulta and if you don't like it you can return it. Obviously just keep all packaging and receipts. I would shop around for a deal though and definitely compare some of the models and their features.

Oh and for cleansers, I pretty much use anything that isn't a scrub. I really like Pacifica's Sea Foam cleanser and Purity Made Simple. Anything that is gentle and simple works really well.
