I have the worst luck with getting nice ladies at makeup counters. I'm very interested in the Clinique Even Better foundation. Today I ask the clerk if they were doing the free 5 day promotion deal as I am tired of doing the trail and error foundation thing. She then proceed to glare at me and stomp off to another counter to grab a sample container mumbling that it isn't their turn to do this. She then walk behind a glass wall and orders me to join her at the opposite end. At this point I'm thinking that she really could have said no, I was just asking, but she had already began bottling the sample. I asked her will it be fine for oily skin and she answers, 'you need to work out your moisterizer'. She put the sample on the counter and leaves before I can ask her any other questions.
It seems as though I consistantly have this problem at makeup counters. I used Fashion Fair for years before finally giving up on it because of the inconvienence of having to deal with it to buy something. Am I doing something wrong? Is it something I'm saying or not saying? I try to be as polite as possible, joke around and give compliments. Have you ladies had this problem? Okay, my rant is over. I really feel like crap after today.

I would call or email Clinique. I can guarantee their local sales rep would NoT be happy.

Omg no. You are not the problem. People like her are the ones that are supposed to be polite and nice. YOU are the customer and THEY are the employee. Its their job to please YOU. Its so ridiculous how nasty peoples personalities can get. So sorry that happened to you today lovely! I would of been a rude ass like she was being and I would of spoke to her boss, lol.

Yea don't feel bad at all you where just being a client. She probably had a bad day or was a bitter person. Next time ask to see her superior, and tell her you will not stand being treated with such rudeness. I hate it but she will keep doing this unless they put a stop to her. I've had to raise my voice once or twice with people like that.

Working with people as a professional you're not supposed to mix work with your bad day or bitter life... Therefore she is wrong and if you bring it up to their attention she'll have to hear and I guarantee she'll be nicer next time... I hate people like that even at work I tell my coworkers you could put a smile on even if your day is crap!

How rude. I know how you feel. I went to Mac around thanksgiving time in Nordstrom and I asked for a certain lip stick and the girl didn't seem like she wanted to find it AT ALL. so she went and baaaarely looked through the lipsticks and came back and just said "its sold out." and wandered off. and the whole time she was just glaring at me while I asked her. very unpleasant. luckily the one closer to my house at Macy's has great customer service.

Do you have a recent ticket from macy's? If you do, you can answer a satisfaction survey online with the code of your purchase ticket and tell your experience.

Please don't feel bad, its not your problem if they're having a bad day, they need to suck it up and do their jobs which is satisfying the customer needs... I highly recommend for you to do what AMY M told you to do... something this unacceptable needs to be stopped >=\

To answer your question, the "even better line" offers 2 different kinds of spf's one (I think it's the lotion is meant for oily skin) the gel moisturizer (the yellow one) is indicated for oily skin. I have used Clinique for ages. I stared to use the 3 steps line and it did wonders to my skin which was crazy oily at the time. Maybe you could try it. Hope you get a nice lady next time.

I haven't really except one time a lady @ Mac counter in Macys was just very cold & I just didn't even deal w/her went to someone else but what you went thru would've happened to me trust they would've not heard the last of it. If they don't like their job or deal with customers than go elsewhere. I dislike rude people.

Thanks you guys. I guys I'm a bit too nice about things like this. I understand working with the public can be upsetting. I didn't end up huying anything because she wasn't very helpful and that was the only thing I went for. If I like the sample I will go back and hope for better service. If not provided, I will definitely say something.
Mariana thank you for the info. I'm going to check out online as to if the 3 steps will benefit me. Do you know if the foundation stays on pretty well on it's own or should I use a primer?

I personally use the anti blemish one. But I've heard great comments in that one. Primer is optional but it'll always look better 😘

Haaaaaaa, sales people piss me off.
The last time I went to a counter, the lady had a smidgen of an attitude so I just went and looked for whatever it was I wanted... I opened their drawers and everything and she just looked at me. I was like ' Sorry it just bothered you SO MUCH that I asked you to do what YOU get paid for. So I figured either a. you give me an attitude and I complain to your supervisor, or b. I do this shit the right way myself and no one gets bothered''.
Her face was priceless... lmao!
