I keep trying to do a cat eye with liquid eyeliner, but I can't even make a straight line without getting liquid eyeliner all over my eyes and face. Any suggestions how how to apply it or brands that are easy to use?

Practice with gel at first IMO because liquid is very hard.

Start from the middle & draw out to the end if your lashes. Go back & line from your inner corner to the middle. And lastly I draw a line from my outer eye corner up slightly slanted & then connect & fill in. Hope this helps, but it takes plenty of practice!

I agree with Kaitlyn. I had the same problem and I saw all of the recommendations about gel. works great to practice with.

I also find it easier for me to draw the line while looking down in a mirror, this way I can keep my arm and hand steady on a table. Take your time, and try to make the line thin, while gradually building up a thicker line.

Try using a liquid liner pen! or gel liner and a brush! There are many drug store versions of liquid liner pens out there too, but I find them very easy to use and handle =)

You should use tape.

You should put tape on your lower lash line then do it.

Great topic. I still struggle with this - but the gel is easier to work with...more forgiving. I still cannot draw a straight line and it's so maddening! I have so many liquid pens and pots and they just sit there because I absolutely suck at it and black is the hardest color! I highly recommend the Milani and Physicians Formula liquid pens though - for the price they can't be beat, don't smudge and are black as sin. >:)

I think one of the things that helped me was to use a quick hand...when you try to draw it slowly with liquid liner, you usually end up with a really jagged line (hands shaking etc), so when I do quick long strokes it makes it look a lot smoother. Also, I start close to the lash line and then build it up. Hope that helps!
