Would you quit a job that wouldn't let you do your nails, wear make-up that's noticeable, fix your hair cute, or wear the shoes you want? If you knew you had another job waiting that let you do all of the above?

What job would restrict you like that?

I guess it all depends! If I really loved the job I would stay, but if the supression of self expression bugged me to much and the job was awful, I would quit.

I'm a hostess at a restaurant so it's not a problem that I get all dolled up for work but that (and my husband lol) is what pays for all of my makeup & beauty products so I probably wouldn't quit unless I had another job lined up but I would be super offended & want to quit.

Depends on what the other job pays and what the benefits are. Is the work environment there nice. There is a lot of stuff to consider.

If the job that doesn't let me do all that still pays more and makes me happy I would take it anyway. Professionally speaking, I work for a company. I would understand them not wanting me to do all that because it keeps it professional, clean looking, and so on. If you go to a restaurant sometimes you'll see everybody wearing all black and hair back and simple makeup. Not to say a mix isn't as good but it just looks better in some jobs. It's business so who cares:) as long as I can do my makeup when I go out!

This is funny. Maybe for like a high school type job yeah I'd flip on it.
But PD military fire rescue any government job will take you out in a heart beat. I've seen officers go home because they didn't shave or wear the right kind of socks ( here its black long socks so some people wear short ones or navy ). Make up ha s to be natural and hair color cannot be something that isn't natural. Like you can wear an auburn red since its considered natural but not red red.
Hair must always be in a bun not even a pony tail. If you want to wear it down it can't be touching your body in anyway. So basically a bob and anything shorter would be the way to wear it down. Now I doubt there's any pd that's will say well you can show up to work in a dress and heels. And even then those who do are detectives. Regular patrol units obviously not. I'm okay with it. Makes picking out stuff easier.

Depends on the job and pay lol. I'm not allowed to have my nails painted at work.

I don't think I would quit just because of that but if a job restricted me that much I don't think I would take it to begin with.

It depends on the job really.

It's a fast food job, I am in high school so I only have my phone bill... I don't know I don't wear an outrageous amount of make up, but even winged eye liner is β€œto much” my whole life I've always keep a French manicure and when I got this job (that only pays 7.50) I was a bit annoyed with the fact of the matter. I understand the shoes there is grease everywhere, but added on to the restriction of expression they work me 7 days a week and talk to their workers like they're dogs!
