So I normally have a lot of split ends and pretty dry hair, the problem is that when I try to condition it or moisturize it in any way it gets too heavy and oily. So either my hair is very dry and dull looking or very oily and greasy looking- I can't seem to find an equilibrium... help!! :(

Your hair type is like mine first you should trim your hair from time to timee lets say every 2 to 3 month.. don't play with your hair a lot with your hands. insited of conditionar use serum after you shower and style your hair :)

First, trim your split ends. If you don't, they will keep splitting up the shaft and ruin even more of your hair.

Second, invest in a sulfate and sodium chloride free shampoo and conditioner (I like the L'oreal EverStrong but L'oreal EverCreme is great for dry hair, and smells fantastic), and a hair mask or deep conditioner (I like Macadamia Deep Repair Masque and the L'oreal Power Moisture Mask). In the shower, wash your hair first thing, shampoo only the roots and condition from your ears down. After that, apply your mask, focusing on the ends of your hair. Finger comb until you don't feel any knots, and then put your hair in a bun. Leave it that way for the rest of your shower, washing it out should be the last thing you do. I find that if you massage your scalp when you're rinsing, you can feel the mask washing out of your hair, and neither of those masks makes my hair feel heavy or greasy at all.

Third, in terms of heat protectors, I like the Tressemme and It's a 10 Leave in Plus Keratin. However, I advise you to cut out heat styling as much as possible.

That's my hair routine, my entire head is bleached and it is just as healthy as it was before I dyed it.

Well have you tried to just put moisturizer or conditioner at the end of your hair to your splits!? so the ends might be a little oily but healthy and nobody will probably notice!
or you could just put hair oil after you got done blow drying. It helps for me! :D

I agree get a trim first then maintain with a moisture shampoo/conditioner I like the moisture line from paul mitchell and only condition your ends don't put any conditioning products on your scalp - I have this same issue with very fine oily hair - also to keep it from drying out use heat seal before any heat products only on the ends and also a sealing serum after to put back moisture on the ends - I like super skinny by paul mitchell n you don't need much - otherwise to keep your scalp from getting oily try blow drying your roots between washes to add volume and also use a dry shampoo to get rid of the build up around the scalp - these tips have helped my hair tremendously - I haven't cut it in 6 months and barely any split ends (only on blonde peekaboo areas from bleach damage) and I can go up to 4-5 days without washing n hair doesn't look like an oil slick so hope this helps!

I second on Hannah W advice. Follow that and you should see a difference.

When my hair starts doing this I use a "clarifying" shampoo. Don't use it too often because it can strip color but it gets all the built up "gunk" on my hair. I then use a good moisturizing conditioner only on the ends of my hair and a leave in heat treatment and let my hair air dry if possible!
