I've gotten really tired of using the cruddy little foam applicators that come with eyeshadow pallets, and I don't really want to go out and buy a set of makeup brushes :P however I paint a lot so I have a large amount of unused/lightly used paintbrushes. Can I use these for eyeshadow? I'm considering using a size 2 or size 4 filbert brush, which are both fairly good quality. Does anyone have advice?

Those may be better for applying lipstick. But you could always use those.

Never use a used paintbrush! Even if slightly used and cleaned! Don't use it. You can however use the unused ones, lots of makeup artists use paintbrushes as lip brushes and a lot can be used for eyeliner

You can buy starter brushes next time you're at target. Elf brushes are great and are only $1-$3. I'd get those instead of using the art brushes, simply for quality. You can use those for maybe concealer application or for lip products.

I recently decided to use paint brushes for makeup as a trial, lol. They totally suck for eyeshadow, but work great for gel eyeliner.
