Try using a thin layer of light-medium coverage foundation all over the skin, then covering only the problem areas with high-coverage foundation. I love Illamasqua. Then tap very little translucid powder over the problem areas so it lasts even longer.

I personally use the L'oreal infallible foundation and I love it. It gives me enough coverage, and it does give me that "flawless" look, but after wearing it for a few hours, it can get greasy. And I don't think it photographs as well as, let's say the HD foundation by Make up forever(I have heard great things about it).

But I think it looks good in person, if you have it in a shade very similar to yours. I have it in porcelain, and it can make me look ghostly white in pictures(this is what I mean with saying that it doesn't photograph well). I guess it depends on you, I would say, if you can afford a bit more expensive foundation, why not go for the HD one? I haven't tried it myself, but I'm pretty sure I will once I can afford 40$ for a foundation(I am a poor student), hahah.

I think the most important step in ensuring flawless foundation application is how you apply it. I struggled with this for years.. I started with a MAC foundation and typical foundation brush (flat pointed tip dense synthetic brush)... Streaky and just kind of inconvenient. I then discovered stippling my foundation on with a highlight brush an blending with a sponge... Have me pretty good coverage but took a bit long.

Best method is using a dome shaped synthetic brush... Sonia at Target has one at a great price, Sephora also has one (#55 aka Airbrush) - my personal favorite is UD's Diffusing brush, unlike Sonia's and Sephora's, the brush hairs are shorter and more dense. I use this to buff on my foundation gently... Flawless and solid coverage without missing spots that I would have to go back and blend with other foundation brushes I have used in the past.
