Dry shampoo help

This may be a stupid question but...People say not to wash your hair everyday to preserve natural oils. But then they dry shampoo their hair to absorb the oils. So isn't that a bit contradictive??

I personally only use dry shampoo when I'm too lazy to wash my hair.
