Can you use a bb cream as a primer? Is it the same thing?

Yeah, bb cream would give you extra coverage, but they tend to be greasy and orangey because of oxidation. So I personally wouldn't do it.

I don't think they're the same thing I think primer goes under bb cream.

It depends on the formula. Different BB creams serve different purposes. Some contain mattifiers, some primers, some spf, etc. I have never personally had problems with BB creams being either too greasy or oxidizing, however my skin is pretty normal. I personally like Tarte's 12hr BB cream/primer. I applied some of their Amazonian clay full coverage over it in spots where I needed more coverage for a full makeup look.

A bb cream includes a primer in it so you can use it in place of a primer - bb cream acts as a primer, moisturizer, and coverage all in one - so yes you can definitely use it as a primer or alone by itself - a primer on the other hand is not the same as a bb because it does not have the additional benefits of SPF, moisturizer, color correction all in one like a bb cream does - a bb is supposed to be a multi-beneficial primer as well as a multi-step all-in-one moisturizer, primer, SPF and coverage that just a plain primer is not.

In the winter I have used it as a primer for my foundation. Summertime however is bb cream only if I do want more coverage.

Bb creams usually have a built in primer because they are used as foundation alternatives. Bb creams are lighter, less coverage than foundation but are usually used over primer or in their own.

No BB Cream is not meant to be a primer, however, there are some BB creams out there that have primers in them!
