I think I'll do a sweater shorts and boots. Which would look best with medium wash high waisted shorts? A forest green plaid one with lace detailing? Or I have two large knit grey ones, one has a skull design in it...?

Don't look like you're trying too hard. Wear comfy pants/leggings, a flowy open knit cardigan, and a band muscle tee or tank top. As for shoes converse or vans (: what bands are you seeing?
