Suit for Prom?

SO, my prom is in a few weeks, and I want to be a bit different. There's only about a few girls in my year, and I know they're all wearing fancy pants dresses. But that's not my thing, I love wearing dresses, I wear them daily...but I want to mix it up for prom.

I'm thinking about wearing a suit, but as my schools dress code for uniform is 'black suit, blue shirt'...a black suit is a bit obvious and I'll look like I'm wearing uniform.

Maybe a navy blue slim fit suit? I'm also thinking I should wear it with a brightly coloured shirt that I can match nail polish, and shoes with. Maybe heels?

I'm wanting opinions!! Thanks in advance:)

I love the idea of yellow!! Tapered trousers would look great as they're feminine:) a cropped, tailored jacket would look good as they'd show off the colour of the shirt:)

I'm super pale so I would never go with a white suit! So if you are pale it could wash you out! The idea presented above about the brightly colored suit with nude pumps is great! You could also do black pumps with a black clutch. Then you can find jewelry you really like and such to match and your nails can be done the color of the suit or just in classic manicure with white tips. I think you'd look stunning! It'd be different but still put together, elegant, and very pretty!
