The darker brown is nice. Good for you respecting your moms opinion. As a mom myself (I have a son a year younger than you), I know why she doesn't want you to do permanent things with your hair. Cosmetics wash off in seconds, bad hair dye jobs can take up to two years to grow out. With your complexion your natural color & the brown look pretty & natural. I think red tones might not be as flattering.

I can really notice the change in the photo you just posted. It looks great! That's a really cool technique you used, I had never heard of that before! I posted on my tumblr a little while ago a trick to enrich and deepen (or brighten if your blonde) your hair color just using tea! For your color, you can take a black tea and steep it in water for 5-10 minutes. Then spray onto your hair.

I really like it after the 2nd treatment. Koolaid works for Manic Panic type colors for a little while. Bet there is a way to dilute it for pastels. I like the photos in natural light, it is easier to see colors in it. Tungsten and fluorescent lights are orange and greenish. If you have a digital camera that you can set the white balance on choose auto. I like natural light more for camera phones. Sorry if that is too much, art geek here
