Sorry to post threads so close together but here's my problem... I NEVER use sunscreen. I prefer to let my natural skin absorb and process the the sunlight the way it should and I've never gotten burned from it. The other day I decided to use a sunscreen on my face (dumbest thing I ever did) and because sunscreen blocks some bot not all of harmful rays my face ended up burnt. Now it's starting to peel. 😭 I'm leaving on Sunday with my choir to hold a revival in another local church but the thing is no one wants to come to a revival/children's ministry where a flakey faced girl works. It disgusting. Any way I can get rid of this fast? I have naturally dry skin by the way... Please help 😭😭😭

Well
I don't think it's the sunscreens fault you got burnt
I think you would've burned anyways
Also sunscreen is important to wear everyday because UV rays are very harmful to the skin and can cause premature wrinkles and in some cases skin cancer
Anyways
You could try natural aloe Vera gel on your face
And the brand Burt's Bees has a after sun lotion that will sooth sunburn

Thank you, Qwaserght, but skin cancer and melanoma have been found on places of the body that never see the sunlight such as the bottoms of feet and other areas like that so it would be an overall health problem if you get that. But I'm not advocating laying in the sun and getting sun poisoning, as that makes the problems worse. What I was saying is that I work outside a lot and I never get burned. What I think it was is an allergic reaction to a product in the sunscreen that I ONLY put on my face and made my skin react differently to the sun. I didn't burn anywhere else and I wasn't in or around water or concrete or anything that the sun could have reflected off and burnt me lol but the burn is gone it's just the skin problem left :)

I will just keep exfoliating until all the dead skin is off. I appreciate you taking the time to reply! :)

I would go buy a moisturizing facial cream, and then put it on every time you go into your bathroom! And then at night I'd use a more heavy-duty face cream. That really stinks; I hate sunburns. :(

Thank you, Lyddie! I can't laugh at my friends any more for coming back from the beach a bright reddish pink lol. Will do!! 😄

Haha! Yeah, I definitely know what it feels like! I burn super easily, so I'm always some shade of pink ;) Good luck!

I agree with you Ashley, instead of using chemical sunscreens, which are known to mess up your endocrine system, I just limit my sun exposure. I have had problems like this before and I used 100% aloe vera juice. You can get it at health food stores. I wanna say I got mine at the vitamin shoppe, but it's been a while. It helped me a ton.

Thanks so much Maggie! I'll probably go get some tomorrow :) have you found any other ways to reduce chances of being burned? My sister has fair rosy skin and burns super easily. I know having plenty of vitaminA and minerals (sweet potatoes!!) help with getting your skin the way it should be...

It's definitely not the sunscreens fault. It's good for some rays of sun but most every single day you should wear a sunscreen. This is a preventative measure to make sure your skin retains collagen later on in life. For burns I recommend honey masks and just plain aloe since both are very soothing.

Thanks for the reply, Cami. I guess everyone has their own opinions :)

When I have to have sun protection I use a physical sunscreen, not a chemical one, like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide , as they aren't absorbed by the bloodstream. Do you know the active ingredient of your sunscreen? Otherwise I just wear sunglasses a hat, and even bring an umbrella.

I don't know it was a bunch of chemicals and I threw it away. Where can I get the zinc oxide? I just don't like putting stuff that has the word "titanium" on my body even though it's a mineral lol.

Any store like walmart, target, etc, they are generally in jar containers and are of higher spf. I can get not wanting to put titanium on yourself, it does seem like some piece of like robot armor.

Something similar happened to me. I never put sunscreen on my face. Just moisturizer. Well one day I decided why not and it ended up making me break out really bad! Idk if it was the sunscreens ingredients or my skin wasn't use to it, but now I'm just so traumatized to put sunscreen on. I only put it on when I go swimming, which is not good, but I have yet to find a sunscreen that doesn't break me out. It really sucks. :/ (sorry for going off topic) lol but when I get sunburned I use after sun soothing aloe Vera gel or after sun lotion. :)

CeraVe AM is gentle and contains Zinc oxide.

You're welcome, Ashley. I have psoriasis so my skin is insanely sensitive and it has never irritated me. and it's moisturizing, which I love. Good luck!
