Yep the piercer is defiantly a professional, he showed me his I'd and everything. And he defiantly is and a pro shop with a couple of tattoo artists. But I would never get it done unprofessionally lol. But thank you.

I agree with Renay and Harlyn though, it's strange for a piercer to say bring your own, usually they don't give that option they will pierce with a metal bar (like the ones in my picture)

That's probably the best way to go while it heals :)

He probably isn't a professional if he's asking you to take your own jewelry. Don't get pierced by him :/

It needs to be surgical steel, it needs to be bigger (longer) than an average belly bar for when it swells and for cleaning after the piercing, ask him what gauge you're looking for although I think for belly bars they are usually all the same, ask anyway. As Shaye said get metal balls, not plastic, and if he doesn't completely disinfect it before piercing you then you don't let him do it at all.
Its very strange he wants you to bring you're own bar. My friends have been pierced by a piercer in his own house and he even provided the bars.

I also find it strange that they asked you to bring your own. I've even gotten pierced just by a friend, but they had a certificate and they STILL made sure they gave me a good barbell. But since he is asking, just make she the metal is surgical steel grade, and will cause no infections. I wouldn't go cheap on it, try going to a piercing store or a body jewelry store. Nothing cheap like Spencer's or anything. (Although I do love their belly rings, once its done and healed!) :) just make sure you get nothing dangly, or too short.

With no offense intended to Erin, if they pierce you with a ring, they are WRONG. I had mine pierced with a ring when I was 18 (just over two years ago) and it is massively scarred and still not right even though I went to a different place that gave me the jewelry you should have: an internally threaded, surgical steel barbell. If they pierce you with a ring, it can rotate and will never heal properly, due to the bacteria from the outside constantly turning to the inside.
I really recommend that you go to someone more reputable, someone who wouldn't even think of suggesting that you bring your own jewelry.

I was searching up belly button piercings on google yesterday because I want mine done, and it's perfectly normal for a piercer to say that.

I'd say find another shop. the ones you buy at stores the bars have kinda flat tops when you unscrew. at a proper piercing place they should be pointed so as to go through the new piercing easily. good luck.

It's definitely not right for some one to say to bring your own ring I would try another peircing/tattoo shop. The belly bars in a peircing shop are suction packed and are not opened until just before they piece your belly. because if you buy just any bar and touch it ect it's carrying germs, I would watch what your doing, you don't want an infected belly button
