Damn Jacqlyn! Your skin looks fantastic!! So glad it's working for you :)
My only input @mary is to use eye drops!! Accutane dries you out like crazy

Also lots of SPF! My dad was on Accutane and he found that it made his skin super sensitive to the sun.

Hey Mary, I wrote about my whole accutane experience here if you're interested in reading it: bit.ly/1qFVPXC
The number one thing I want to tell you is to STAY OUT OF THE SUN! Slather on the sunscreen and stay inside. I got a sun rash from just walking from my car into my house, and on a previous acne medication, I actually got a first degree burn from staying in the sun for too long. The Accutane makes your skin so much more sensitive, so be very careful with which products you use and take advice from your dr. about it all.
Don't:
- get any spa treatments/facials/waxes or anything of that nature, not even at home masks unless advised by your doctor.
-feel discouraged if it doesn't work as fast you liked
-leave out any side-effects when talking to your doctor; somethings may seem unrelated to the medication, but tell then anyone.
I didn't have to go for blood or pregnancy tests - I went for one blood test halfway through my treatment and that was that. I guess it's just a location/cultural difference, so you should probably listen to Jacqlyn on that one! I was on Accutane for almost 15 months, just because I'd had to take 10mgs for most of the summer and that really slowed me down. It might not be the case with you. If you have any other questions/concerns about the treatment at any point, just ask! :)

I've heard a lot about Accutane causing/worsening depression. It's always in newspapers and on the tv. As well as friends I know with that experience. So maybe just be weary of it if you go on it :)

Josie, it'a good that you brought it up! I forgot to mention it. It's true that there are a couple of Accutane horror stories - however, they never tell you about all of the successes in those news reports. Mary, if your doctor put you on Accutane, he must believe that you are in the capacity to handle the side effects. That being said, just be aware that it can cause mood swings and depression. If you do start experiencing ANY of those symtpoms, please tell your doctor right away. Don't worry about the treatment; there will always be other options, and it's not worth that kind of risk. Some people have a genetic predisposition to depression, or have suffered with it in the past, and the Accutane only brings that out in them. You should be fine on it - if there were more bad outcomes than good, the drug would been taken off the market in a heartbeat. It's just something you should keep in mind :) Best of luck!
