I totally agree with Renay! Peplum dresses look super chic and sexy yet they are conservative enough to wear to almost any event. I think a nice summer color would be lovely!

Sorry but I'm not into peplum dresses at all. Personally I think they look silly. But do what you want to do. If you love them then do it.
But I do agree with something that clings to the waist :)

Tip: if you have nice curves you can wear a bodycon dress, if you have a little belly you can wear a sheath dress but still accentuates your waist but not to tight, if you don't want to show your belly but still would want to look gorgeous you can wear a shift dress. Now the trick for wearing a shift dress is to wear a sexy shoes, like strappy sandals. Nude colors of shoes is a must for this dress as it accentuates your legs. Put a statement jewelries or a purse. Less is simple.

I looked into my closet and this skirt by far is gorg for summer. Love the crocheted details. For tops, I love to pair this with a flowy top. Keep it simple. Let the skirt stands out. Wear strappy sandals or wedges. Or even flats for more comfort.
