My doctor also gave me special acne gel for night but he said with it don't use it during the day because it'd burn or something like that. I don't know that product but yeah.. not sure if I'd do it.

When I put on night cream during the day, I make sure I stay with the lights turned off and avoid light exposure as much as I can, because products that are intended for use in the night are at their most stable form in the dark, light can break their molecular structures and cause them to reduce their potency.

Yes the reason it is usually for night is because you can not go into the sun usually with night creams they are kind of like a timer they turn on when you put them on but shut off at a certain point
so they need to neutralize before you can go into the sun so make sure you will be staying in doors and not in the sun otherwise just wait til night time
