I've never been good at putting eyeliner on it just doesn't look right. Are there any easy tips or tricks that will make application easier?

You can put cello tape or masking tape from the outer corner of the eye diagonally up to the end of the brow and it will make your wing easier and straight xx

Practice practice practice. But also tape doesn't hurt for getting perfect wings. I use this trick everyday because my left wing was never sharp enough.

You can use the edges of a spoon. Hold it to your face and draw around the edges!

Are you talking pencil, cream or gel?

Pencil

Ok because the editorial section has a tip... take a lighter and place it under the pencil and it will be softer so it rolls on easier

-With pencil make sure you sharpen the point. Make little short strokes as close to the lash line as you can- don't worry about drawing a thick line right away. When you get the liner like you want you can set it with black eyeshadow on an angled eyeliner brush, it will smooth and set the line.
-You can also take the pencil and rub it on an angled eyeliner brush and apply with the angled liner brush.
-Get an angled liner brush from EcoTools- its cheap and good quality, also at the drugstore. These brushes are great for applying eyeshadows as eyeliner, and a ton of other ways. You can use them for gel liner too when you're comfortable.
-Once you feel more comfortable play with liquid liner and gel liner. Liquid has either a brush tip or a felt tip like a marker. You might like one or the other, play around and have fun!

Easiest application for beginners would be a liquid pen eyeliner. Pencil is a little more difficult.

Also if you want you can always start with a pencil, I find it much more forgiving to not be perfect and if need be, wipe off and start over. Hope this helps!
