Alrighty guys :) I've had ginger hair the entirety of my 18 years and well, I'm thinking I may change it. Except for blue streaks that I rocked for a couple months during my senior year and a home perm when I was like, 6, my hair has always been natural. I know that people try really hard to achieve my natural color, and I feel for you guys, but dude, 18 years! Anyway, I want a change. I'm really feeling purple or lavender, after a little while blonde so that I don't have a ton of damage at once. Now, my current hair is totally virgin and quite healthy. I probably won't go full one color so, maybe peekaboo color at first? I'm totally open to suggestions guys. Be truthful, but try to be nice please. :) thank you a ton! Below pictures current color and cut.

Excuse the facial expression and here is another for more reference on my current color. ;)

Virgin and healthy is the best time to do it! A platinum or silver would would look great on you 😊 as would lavender, almost any pasted I'd say!

Though, you may have to result to filling your eyebrows in darker and ashier, as the red toned in them could offset your entire complexion

Thank you! :) my eyebrows have always been a struggle, but I'm up for it! So all over? Peekaboo?

I'd say all over, peekaboo would be hard to pull off because of the drastically different undertones and may put you off lavender for good!

Try something like this to do a gradual change!

I think that being a natural redhead is a blessing! It's so BOSS! red isn't a color naturally found in nature. And you're so fortunate to have it growing out of your head 🙌 I would keep it. Maybe add highlights or do fire ombre or go an unnatural red. Please don't dye it a normal boring people color!

Thank you :) you guys are really helpful. And Jenna the gradual suggestion really does help with the nerves toward something so dramatic. Do you suggest any particular brands Brittany?

Thank you Symone :) I may start with pink highlights and progress my way into hopefully an eventual lavender :) I'm considering all suggestions

I agree with pink highlights. They would look great, and I find its better to ease yourself into this kinda stuff, rather than going in straight for a dramatic change.

I'd put highlights or an ombré or even "crazy" highlights like silver or lavander or like the ends :)

Your natural colour is pretty but I believe in going in whole hog and just going for it. It's just hair, it'll grow back. My first time dying my hair I went from mousey blonde to black haha
If you want to go lavender or pink I would bleach everything first, don't do highlights- in my personal opinion I think it won't look right with your natural colour to have both ginger and pink, it will clash. If you really want a more subtle approach then Symones suggestions are good, a darker red or an ombre red would look good but I really think you should just be brave and try something new.

Awwww thank you for the pep talk Caitriona! :) I'm really strongly considering it. You are very right in saying it grows! People tend to forget that? The lavender thing has been sitting at the back of my mind for a long time and you really boosted me up there!

You could totally go for it Paula! I have always gotten tons of compliments :) I have heard that going for ginger you have a ton of upkeep, but it's worth it to stand out, don't you think?

I definitely think you could pull off a lavender or silver colour! I'm naturally ginger too and right now my hairs a silver colour so I think go for it! I agree with Caitriona about overall bleaching though if you're going to go for it :)

I unfortunately don't have any brands to recommend as I've never dyed my hair crazy colours but I don't recommend splat. Why? I'm not sure. But no one else recommends it so listen to everyone else.
I wouldn't buy a lavender colour but instead a concentrated purple temporary dye to mix in with your conditioner until you have the desire tinge (the conditioner should be slightly darker than the colour you'd like your hair to be) That is what my friend does with her pastel pink hair and upkeep is a walk in the park because all it takes is a shower- using the conditioner about once a week more or less depending on your current vibrancy.
Honestly, go for it. It'll look great with your skin, it'll be unique and if you don't like it you can dye over it! Sure it'll be damaged but nothing a little hair masks can't help!
