It all depends on your pain tolerance level. It hurts very badly for some and not so much for others.

They get infected very VERY easily, also it will be sore for a few weeks making it hard to drink certain drinks and hard to eat certain foods.

I have mine done. It didn't hurt for me but I have a high pain tolerance and no they don't get infected easily that's if you don't take care of it and even then the tongue heals easily.
