How to get a tan?
Lay out in the sun, but remember sunscreen! Or use a tanning lotion!

Fake tanner/tanning lotion is safer than laying out in the sun - you risk getting sunburn and skin cancer just laying out - so I say fake n bake all the way - if you do go out in the sun make sure you have SPF 15 or higher to protect against the UVA/UVB rays.

I think Geethashree is asking how to get rid of a tan.
Wear sun protection (at least SPF 30 or higher), long sleeves and pants, a sun hat, sun glasses, caring a parasol, and staying out of the sun as much as possible will help the tan fade. It will take a while, but that is the best and safest way. Skin lighteners are dangerous and cause a multitude of issues, so stay away from those.

Exfoliating will help too if you're looking to get rid of it. I also find that shaving everyday speeds up the process too.
