How do you guys feel about it? I want to get a tan & my friend uses it & it works really well for her! but I know it could be harmful to my skin, would it be okay if I didnt stay out too long after I put it on?

A tan is the skin reacting to damage on a cellular level. This damage is cumulative and irreversible, and can lead to skin cancer, skin hardening (like leather, which is a tanning process--that's where the name comes from), dark spots, and wrinkles.
There is no such thing as a safe UV tan, be it sunlight or a tanning bed. You are exposing your entire body to concentrated radiation. Would you lie in a nuclear reactor just for a little while? Of course not. So why do the same thing for the sake of vanity. Using oil is pretty much marinating yourself to fry.
The only safe tan is a fake tan. Take it from someone who has had skin cancer multiple times, it isn't worth it.

I agree with Emily. Some awesome very natural self tanners I swear by are Sun Goddess and Xen Tan. Both have olive undertones so that you won't look orange.
