I'm looking for a toner to use that is healthy for my skin but I also have acne. so should I find a toner with salicylic acid or just use my astringent AND a toner? what's the best toners for very oily and acne prone skin?

The Clinique toners are nice. I have oily/combination skin and use the #3 Clinique Toner and it helps soak up all the excess oils after washing my face and give it a fresh feeling (it can sometimes burn on acne though).

You don't need an astringent and a toner just one or the other is fine - and yes salicylic acid based toners are good if your skin can withstand it - if not then go for a non-alcohol based toner - my faves are witch hazel based for oily skin since they are really good at absorbing oil and deep cleaning - also good for acne prone skin - otherwise I use the Mario badescu toners I like their special cucumber toner, as well as the seaweed toner for a non-alcohol based toner with witch hazel.

I recommend looking into a toner with Salicylic Acid. Astringents are by far horrid for skin. Their amounts of alcohol and irritating properties will only trigger more acne and create even oilier skin. Skin is a sensory organ. Stripping it of moisture will only create an over production of sebum, which you want to avoid. And toners/astringents that burn are only irritating skin which triggers hormones.. Which in term leads to more acne.
I recommend looking into a water based toner. Salicylic Acid is great for acne prone skin types.
I personally make my own toner, it has Aloe Vera in it which has Salicylic Acid occurring in it naturally. It's really soothing for my acne prone/sensitive skin and nourishing.

The Mario badescu ones are only $15 for a large bottle but you can only find them at ULTA or online - for drugstore I recommend the alba botanica acnedote line they have nice willow bark based toners that take advantage of the natural abundance of salicylic acid in willow bark.

Oh, Clinique isn't available in drug stores and I'm not necessarily sure how much it costs (I'm tempted to say $20-$25?) but I agree with the comments above though, try looking for something with salicylic acid, or even witch hazel like Diana said.

I use the one Sydney suggested. My bottle isnt heavily fragranced though. I have oily/combo skin...aging on top of that and it hasnt caused any issues.
