So I am a 20 something with acne prone, sensitive skin and have been on Accutane in the past. I don't have bad breakouts now, just a few here and there. On my last visit to the derm, I was recommended a retinol cream to help keep my pores clear and add anti ageing benefits (not needed atm, as a precautionary measure.). I was recommended Vichy LiftActiv HA Day cream with spf 18 because my skin is intolerant to all sunscreens I ever tried. So my question is, have any of you acne prone ladies used Retinol creams? Were you warned against anything? How have they worked for you? Thanks in advance. :)

Retinol is nothing like Retin A it's a derivative of Retin A much more gentle although you still may get a little peeling it's is one of the best things for acne if your skin can tolerate it ,it makes your cell turnover speed up to keep your pores clear it also is the best thing to use over time for anti aging but ones persons experience with it will be completely different from someone else so you really just have to try it out and see for yourself

I've been in retinol for 7 months, and not seen any major difference... I finish the tube and then I'm trying another brand of cream.

I am using the skinceuticals retinol.5 and it works! I am supposed to use it more often than I have been using it but I am just trying to really ease my skin into it.

First you need to find out if you have tinea versicolor Plavita but if you can't get to the dr, try Selsun blue shampoo on the affected area it has selenium sulfide in it that helps to kill the fungus but it won't hurt your arms so you can give it a try

I've also been on Accutane, have a few breakouts and use retinol for antiaging now. Just make sure whatever you use is noncomedogenic so it won't clog pores. Retinol is much less irritating than Retin A. I find my skin is very resilient after Accutane and some store products with retinol don't do much. I started using products by the Vi Institute and I like them so far. Mary Kay had a night cream that was non comedogenic and wasn't irritating as well.

I've been using a Retinol (RoC) and it has been great for me. I only apply two/three times a week. I have the ability to get the prescription formula but I was told to move in baby steps and allow my skin to get acclimated because once you go script you are going into stronger formula territory. Don't expect results overnight though...especially if you arent being consistent.
