Btw, Dawn dish soap is sooooo good at deep cleaning your makeup brushes and making them so soft, don't waste your money on an overpriced makeup brush cleaner!

Be careful with using any method that involves your brushes in water. If the water gets into the silver/gold/metal part of the handle it can loosen the brush strands and cause it to come apart.
I generally clean them with 91% alcohol. I put it in a spray bottle, mist my brushes, and wipe them on a textured surface. This cleans and disinfects them. I do this as needed as I wear a lot of colorful looks during the week so I clean to keep the colors from looking muddy.

I use 3 parts Dawn to 1 part olive oil on a dinner plate, then swirl them around and rinse them off. Works like a beautiful charm. Just make sure you always have the bristles pointed down so water doesn't get into the ferrule and start loosening the bristles. Make sure you air dry on a clean towel, and if you can, use brush guards to keep your brushes' bristles in shape.
