Like how long would you keep an eye shadow palette? I'm curious because I always throw makeup away when it expires.

It usually will last about 18 months, and for @Jacqlyn concealer expires in about 12-18 months! Hope this helps!!

Usually a year to 2 years it says on the package. But it's powder and doesn't really expire, it's just not sanitary anymore. Just scrap the top layer off or spray with isopropyl alcohol and it'll be fine for a long time. I have a palette from 3-4 years ago that I clean monthly but nothing about it has changed. :)

I have a palette from 2008. Still using it. And haven't experienced any issues.

Alyx thank you for the tip. I can't afford high end makeup and when I do buy myself a palette for my birthday I wouldn't want to throw it away.

Just so you guys know, everything with an expiry date, unless it's something that spoils, like dairy, the expiry date just means that after that point it's not 100% potent. It's the same with medication (this came from pharmacists) even if it says the expiry date is a year after it's opened, it's because it went from 100% potency to less than. Even if it stays at 99% potency for 4 years after, they have to put the expiry date for once it's under 100%. I hope this makes sense lol.
So as long as nothing has changed, like color or smell, then it's usually fine. With makeup it's the same thing, it's just sanitary issues after that really.

That's awesome information to have, Alyx. No wonder my 3 year old, professional size UD Primer Potion still works like new :) I've always abided by the rule that unless something looks wrong, smells wrong or works wrong, I can still use it :) now I know why!

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit this but I recently discovered a bottle of body lotion that I bought about 4 years ago, and I've been using it. It still smells great and I haven't had any sort of allergic reaction, so I think I'm in the clear ;)
Thanks for the info, Alyx :)

Yeah Hannah it's super helpful information! My sister injured her finger and we were going on vacation but the pharmacy said that her prescription for certain antibiotics had to be ordered in first and wouldn't be coming for a week, and we were leaving in a few days. The pharmacist said if we had any at home it would be fine even if they were old and explained all above. And I've talked to dermatologists about it for creams and stuff and they say the same thing, unless it's got an ingredient that can spoil it lasts forever, it's just not as potent.

That's great info Alyx :) I have a few shadow quads that are well over a year old and I haven't experienced any problems.
