When I had shorter length hair, I teased it and straightened it. I still do and it looks good if she has a lot of layers like I did! and side swept bangs

Ahh okay. well you can never go wrong with pulling your bangs back for a bump on top :) I've always like the "bumps" or "poofs" with short hair.

Shoulder length hair also looks good curled or with soft waves, I cut my hair , myself and I uaually curl it.
