Can you ladies tell me how I can easily teach myself to walk in heels without looking weird and uncoordinated? I see girls walking around in 7 inch heels looking like models and I can't even STAND in them and they're just so cute and I'd like to wear them more often and be able to walk right in them. the struggle! lol.

You'd probably have to start with a smaller heel and once you get comfortable with that height work your way up to however high you want your heels to be :)

I believe Michelle Phan has a video about walking in heels on her channel. The tips were interesting!
So check that out! But girl honestly, just throw a pair of heels on and live in them when you're in your house. You'll be a pro!
I was in my school's prom fashion show and the week before, I wore those heels all day when I was at home. Practice makes perfect! Start out small then work your way higher and higher.

Thank you ladies :) should I start with the wedges or pointy ones or does it matter?
Jul 16, 2014

You need to start with a wedge and then work your self into higher and higher heels. Right now I can walk in a 5inch wedge and about a 3inch regular heel which I super impressive cuz I have no coordination. Also, practice at home a lot before you go out. Walk back and forth around the house for a little everyday and build that coordination and balance! It's very tough work actually and requires patience but you work yourself up eventually!

Start with wedges! They're already way easier to walk in.

Amanda, I'll have to look the video up. I'm sure there are many videos about that as well cause I'm sure I'm not the only girl with this struggle! haha thank you all again :)

Kendra.. that's a pretty name! :) and I have horrible coordination as well especially with walking lol I just always see all these cute heels and wishing I could walk in them. I do have a pair of small wedges that I've never worn and I think I'll practice in those for a while around the house until I'm 100% conformable.

I started practicing because at practice, one of the teachers in charge of the fashion show said our walks were terrible and we looked really awkward. I felt like I was being judged on top model. 😭😂

Bella D.
Oh no! lol that would have pushed me to practice as well! do you model?

Em, I've seen that in movies and such. but I imagine the book slipping off way too easily!

Bellla, I do not! That was the one and only time. I'm far too short for that. 😉

I've heard the book thing was very efficient actually

The book thing does work. It's how I learned how to walk in a straight line. It takes TONS of practice though. And work yourself up to heels. Like I started in tennis shoes, then worked my way up to high heels. And if you practice around the house, make sure it's not on wood floor as it can damage it. I'd practice on cement sidewalks if you can. That way you can walk parallel on the edge in a straight line.

I'll have to try that then! cause I'm determined to get me some cute heels! thank you again ladies :)

Wedge is great suggestion...
I see men in 8 in inch stilletos... working it like a boss... I can barely do a figgin flip flop...
But seruoisly, I used to do heals all the time... okay, for like 4 years... I'm not tiny either... I started in kitten heels, then a decent pump. My rule of thumb... a quality shoe. Makes a huge difference. They are comfy to walk in.
Also, you learn to use your hips, and tips of foot for weight distribution. Not heal. Like walking on tip toes. You have to adjust your walk too. Its what I mean by walking from hip. Its a fluid sway. Pretty soon its natral.
Start with a wedge or thicker heal. And get a quality shoe.
Good luck.

I do have to admit, and I'm sorry... but I can't help but have an inner chuckle, when I see someone who can't wear their heel. Keep that in mind. Its not sexy, or sharpe looking when you are a) tromping like a horse or b) look like you got blisters when you walk...
You wear shoe, not other way...
Look in a mirror when you practice
Jul 16, 2014
Bella D.
Yeah my mom and I were just talking about the quality! cause sometimes it's not the size of the heel that makes the shoe uncomfortable! and that goes with ALLLLL types of shoes as well. and thanks!!:)

Momma also said that women who can't walk in heels tend to look like they have something up their butt! sorry to be inappropriate but it's very true in some cases lol that's why I want to know how to "wear my heel" before I actually start wearing them in public :)
