Suggestions on what to wear, hair, nails etc.. for medical Secretary at eye Dr's thursday. I noticed they wear black pants and company shirts while working, so they probably wouldn't be impressed with over the top outfit. pics or explanations appreciated :-) thank you in advance!!

Wear a white formal shirt tucked in some beige pants and a beige blazer with black pumps! Also wear a thin belt! For hair try a side ponytail with a inverted loop, color your nails with some black polish with glitter! Have confidence and good luck! :))

I would agree if instead of beige it was black, instead of side it was a normal ponytail with the loop and just a simple french manicure. You could also do a pencil skirt, shirt and blazer if you wanted to be a bit more feminine. You want to be simple, professional and classy in an interview, you want everything to be fresh but well groomed. Anything that jumps out is a bad thing because you want them to be focusing on your answers and how you'd fit in the job instead of your glittery nail polish :)

You'll do great though, just be happy, calm and confident :)

Good luck! If you're going for classy I'd steer clear of the French manicure as well ;) it's almost worse than black glitter lol

I guess it's subjective (as are most things in the beauty world!) but imo french manicures specifically look tacky. Which is interesting because as you mentioned it's thought of as a go to professional look. If it's done on natural nails that helps..but it's all a matter of opinion :)

Oh ok, when I said french manicure I just meant natural looking nails, nothing colourful or noticeable!

I took a course on job interviews, and they said anything statement-y like glitter nails, big bold necklaces, belts with bling on them etc.are a bad idea. The interviewer wants to see that you can dress nice but not make it about you rather than the interview (black fitted is always the way to go weather it's pants or skirt) and to be as neutral as possible. With hair, either straight down or in a basic pony tail. Whatever you feel is best for your hair. I wouldn't do your nails at all, just make sure they're neatly trimmed and all the same length. For makeup if you wear any go with light foundation or bb cream and mascara.

I agree with Caitriona.. Keep it simple and classy. If you want to do something fancier then do a professional looking updo. Just make sure your hair looks clean and kept and is out of your face. Keep your makeup natural but polished with a subtle lip and light on the eyeliner, if you wear glasses though then you can get away with a bit of a heavier hand. Focus instead on making your skin look fresh and healthy. A subtle dewey color on the cheeks, no bronzer. Looking vibrant and healthy gives people the impression you take care of yourself and are more responsible, intelligent and able bodied. Wear comfortable, stylish shoes that are either flats or have a heel no higher than 2 or 3 inches. Close toed is the professional standard. You could wear a top or shoes with a bit more personality but definitely nothing glitzy or over the top. Nothing sleeveless or exposing your chest. if you don't like the ones of the classic french mani then go ahead and put a sheer pink coat on your nails. If you would like to wear jewelry, keep it small and simple. That's not what you want them to focus on. Once you get the job (which of course you will!) you can ask more about the dress code and will be able to personalize more. Most importantly, sport a beautiful smile and if you don't feel comfortable and confident, then fake it til you make it! Good luck!!
