I've been having trouble with pimples and acne lately. I wash my face with a special face wash every night and every morning but it doesn't work. I've started using a lotion-type cream but that doesn't help either. I'm sunk and I'm embarrassed going in public because sometimes I forget makeup. Can one of you lovely ladies give me tips or inexpensive products? Thank you so so much!

I've usually used things from Mary Kay but someone told me about Clean & Clear so I've been using that. The doctor said to just try some different products but the ones prescribed don't work.

Mostly face washes because Mom wouldn't let me do pills. I guess that she didn't prescribe them since she just wrote down a list and told us to try them.

I used to have pretty bad pimples until I used this method. Everyday I put a teaspoon of Epsom salt into a cup of water and use it as toner. It works for sensitive skin and it kills germs but I don't know if anyone else has tried this (I got it off the internet). I don't think you can be allergic to it since its meant for sensitive skin. It's worth a try I think :)

I would use proactive, it's good for acne, they say it will slowly but effectively go way 😀

You might be stripping your skin and irritating it further if your cleanser is really harsh. Use a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil or CeraVe. It took me a couple of years but my acne is finally under control because I realized that I've been stripping my skin. Exfoliate two or three times a week using an exfoliant with small beads. I use the Neutrogena stress control exfoliator (the green one). Then I usually use a toner to help balance my skin out and to also prep my skin to absorb any treatment I put on after. Then I use CeraVe's moisturizer (it says it's for dry skin but I have dehydrated skin and it works so nicely). Find a moisturizer that is noncomedogenic and hypoallergenic and you like the texture of. Finally I spot treat. You can either use salicylic acid or any kind of treatment for acne (I use Eradikate by Kate Somerville but it might be a bit pricey).

I had acne just like you describe and this is my current skin care routine which seems to be working very well: wash your face every morning and night with a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil. I use the one for oily skin. Then I use a topical antibiotic called Aczone that was prescribed by my dermatologist. I have used retin-A but it was too harsh for me. This one is for sensitive skin and has worked very well so far. After that I use an aveeno moisturizer, as recommended by my dermatologist. They're light and have SPF and won't clog pores. At night, I do the same thing but add Boscia Makeup Breakup Oil Cleanser before the Cetaphil. Double cleansing has made a huge difference in my skin and using an oil cleanser helps balance and moisturize my skin. Twice a week, I use my clarisonic with the Cetaphil to gently exfoliate and really deep clean. And then once a week I use a detoxing mud mask. Recently I've been using a sample of glam glow supermud and I really like it but it's very expensive. There are plenty of good drugstore ones. Just go to ulta and find something detoxing. For spot treating, I find a tea tree oil or witch hazel serum works well. The body shop has a good one. Outside of skincare, my dermatologist had me go on a birth control pill in order to regulate hormones as a safer alternative to an oral antibiotic. This has made a HUGE difference in my skin. If you notice a correlation between break outs and that time of month, talk to your mom about this option. It has made a huge difference for me. Hope this helps!!

Try mixing sea salt with warm water, wait for it to cool and use it as a toner! I did this when I got out of the shower, before bed and in the morning when I had a lot of breakouts and found that it worked a lot better than most topical treatments. Also, don't forget to moisturise after it has dried on your skin because it could dry your skin out! I'm not sure on the quantities exactly but I did around a tablespoon of salt with a cup of warm water and mixed it in a spare bottle!
