Has anyone used a deep waver?

Just wondering if anyone has used a deep waver (not sure that's the exact word but it's the best I could find, it's like a flat iron but makes waves) to get beachy type waves? I'm horrible with a curling iron and I have the BeLissPro Curl Genius, which I love but it makes glamorous curls, not waves. There are several on the market, but here's an example.

They work best when your hair is a couple of days old, then spray with dry shampoo for texture and work down from the root, its easier than a curling iron, then you can spray it with either salt spray or hair spray then scrunch and they stay in a long time. hope I helped:-)

I have the Carmen one and my step grandmother gave it to me for Christmas so I'm not sure where it came from.
