Has anyone dyed there hair using henna hair dye? I've been doing research on it because I'm kinda thinking about dying my hair using henna but I'm not sure.

I have a friend that tried it and it didn't work for her. It gave her bad results but I don't know maybe it'll work for you

I love henna. It gives a very nice red tint without all the harsh and smelly chemicals. Not to mention it lasts for a very long time. I highly recommend henna. Also, if you dye your hair with henna and want to keep the red bright, you can buy henna shampoo. It's in a bar and you can get it off ebay. It was wonderful stuff (stains shower curtains if not cleaned)

It is a dark brunette. What's in my hair now is older box dye. After I died it with the henna it was still a dark brunette but with a beautiful red tint in the sun.

The lighter your hair color the reder your result. I dyed my hair with henna and it looked great! I loved it! it ended up really noticeable in my hair expecially in the sun light. so you won't now how much it will show but if your fine with that then I definitely recommend it!

I have heard so many good things about henna hair dye and how it holds color better. I think I'm long to give it a try.

I dye my hair with henna, and have done this for about 4 years now. I'm very happy with the results I've had, but I will say though, that the color doesn't stay excactly the same during a longer period of time. By that I mean, that if I have dyed my hair red, it may just start out as a deep dark red, but as time passes it gets lighter and lighter (my natural hair is like medium/dark-blonde I think) and ends up with a very orange glow. This is not ugly though, since (what I think is one of the best things about henna) the colour stays very bright and lively. There are though a lot of people who are allergic to henna, so I would suggest testing that before you apply it all over your scalp ;)
Another thing that makes henna great; if you don't want to go all out red, you can totally mix a black og brown henna with the red one! it works great, remember though that the red volour is much stronger, so you might need quite a bit of black/brown in the red :)
the only thing I can really complain about when using henna is that it can be slightly more difficult to apply, smells like warm borecole and, in my hair anyway, has to sit for a long time before rinsing out... I mean, we're talking like two hours here... back when I used dark brown henna anyway... but then again I also (clearly) dye my hair very red so maybe yours won't need as long.
I highly recommend henna, and if you have any further questions just ask :)

Some people do find henna to be drying, and my hair did feel a little dry afterwards but a normal conditioning in the shower fixed it. Henna is very time consuming. you have to mix it yourself (mixing with tea or coffee instead of water gives it more of a red/brown tint) and let it bake in the sun for at least 24 hrs for best results. then the longer you leave it in, the stronger the color. it is a bit messy and it has a strong earthy smell to it but nothing horrible. I find it best to leave it in overnight. however I would go the extra mile to make sure your hair is properly secured before sleeping in it because when I did so, I was brushing henna grit off my bed for days lol.

I forgot to mention I just wrapped my hair in a towel which wasn't very secure lol.

I always use henna... Apart from coloring it also adds moisture to your hair...
It feels dry only when the henna is still in the hair.. It will go completely after 2 or 3 washes...

Make sure you use 100% henna if your hair has been previously treated with chemical colors or bleached. The metallic salts contained in some henna dyes can turn your hair green! Just wanted to warn you, I've seen it happen before!
