Lol well I love you Back Amy because you have brought up someone that needs to be seen by inspired artist they need to know that all artist have a beautiful Knack and portray it in their own artist way.Like you said he works for the sake of art and not attention which is very true and that's how I believe everyone should be like when it comes to the art.To many people get lost in the IN world they're to busy trying to be seen or liked for pretty colors versus doing it because it's what you do and because you do it as your art outlet of creating your own magic and you truly love doing it no matter what, that I highly appreciate about him or anyone that has that mind set.I'm not here for just pretty lol I'm here for the Art and sharing what I've been through and knowledge I've gotten through the years and share it with all.I like to point out to everyone all the different aspects of Makeup not just cut crease and Smokey eyes hehehe. :) I hope more members will look at this thread and get familiar.

Awesome I would show my age as well Amy hehe I remember the Michael Alig story and do remember the club kid seen like it was yesterday but in California we had it in San Francisco :) I will say Miss understood always stood out in my mind and Candis Cayne when thinking of the first time I watched Wigstock.

Alig is a dark spot in ckub kid culture... even though he's praised with starting it... he's just the one the seized the chance... warhol laid the foundation...
But, I won't go on about him... lol
I started in this industry because I was in that culture. My first teachers were my queens... I always say, the best way to learn make up, is from a drag queen...

@alma, the club scene out there now (in cali) is very neo nyc clubkid. But with a whole new edge... its fun, and some of the make ups are beautuful.

I'm liking this convo lol I agree on the alig topic but do remember the chaos he brought into it all.I feel like I'm going through memory lane and thank you for that.I was around the same culture as well except I taught my mister sister how to do his makeup and went in into it all.I'm 37 now and still continue to do what I love,I have foundation in my veins don't think I'll ever lose it.My how things changed in the makeup world now I'm trying to grasp the new generation thoughts on makeup lol.

Its weird, they have changed, but... really... its funny, cause all these "new" tips and tricks, are straight up ol skool. My core will always come from cramped studio apts., filled with shaved she men in dress... but I'm grateful for my art degree and all my aesthetics certs... its definatly rounded out and refined my craft. Even with all of it... everything I learned from my early years, comes back around... under the guise of a new trend, new look, new it factor... makes me laugh to myself.

Sooo I literally had never even heard of this guy until now, but when I googled him I fell in love! <3
I was already toying with the idea of men in drag for my GCSE mock exam, and seeing his work has set it in stone!!
Thank you guys sooo much for creating this thread, I finally now have a solid stand out idea, with a clear inspiration!!
Now all I need to find are some guys who will model for me...
(yikes)
