There's a lot of techniques. One of my favorites is the headband curls. You basically just wrap your hair around the headband. You should also search "heatless curls" on YouTube there's a lot of different ways for different curls.

I use Bantu knots, but they aren't always 100% amazing, I find them very hit and miss.

Yeah braid your hair when it's damp brush it out with a comb so you don't damage it add a lil gel or mousse then comb again n braid take it out in the morning and add a frizz spray or if you don't want to then leave it it'll defrizz in 30 mins or so.
