Hi,
my question is for people who have taken and finished their course of accutane / isotretinoin. (for acne, ofcourse).
What is your skin type post treatment?
(like, after the whole thing is over, have you experienced a change in your skin type)
I need to buy new makeup(I literally threw away my old foundation, concealer when my skin got dry from accutane). So I want to kmow what skin type I should expect post treatment before I spend the money.
I had combination to oily skin before. With a very shiny T - zone.
I am currently on accutane (isotretinoin) for my cystic acne. I am nearing the end of my 6th month. and have acheived pretty good contol. And this could be my last month.
your responses would help a lot in deciding.

I was on Accutane a little over three years ago so I guess it makes me a veteran. My skin type hasn't changed from the medication and from what my dermatologist told me and a couple of my girlfriends (we all went on Accutane together), your skin type isn't going to change post the drug administration period. You will notice that your skin produces lesser oil but it wouldn't become dry from oily. Like you, I went on for cystic acne and my dermatologist recommended I use no makeup while being on tge pill, it helped a lot. So I suggest you stick to buying makeup for oily skin and absolutely make sure its oil free and non comedogenic.

Thanks ame s. I think I'll take your advice and look for stuff that works for oily skin. coz I've seen that even during the treatment I tend to get a shiny t zone, and the inner area of my cheeks gets shiny over the course of the day. thanks again. tc cheers.

Thank You @Jacqlyn W.
well, I had oily to combination skin (depending on the weather)...and initially wen I started I went to completely dry...like that was such a new feeling for me. I had no clue how to deal with just parched facial skin..almost on the verge of cracking. (I was on retino-A cream as well). I used the emollient my doctor prescribed. I have a personal dislike for creamy icky stuff (coz I always had oily skin)..but it is the only thing that worked.
and till today my face looks/ gets a lil red...the kinda red that doesn't look flushed. just red. I hope that goes away once I stop.
one thing is for sure, while I havent had a single breakout in over 4 months, I am starting to see that the scarring, that I had from earlier breakouts, has also receded.
