I'm wanting to lighten and color my dark auburn hair to a light brown. I've only ever used box color but I'm interested in mixing my own color and would like some suggestions. Thanks :)

Thanks Renay! I haven't ever had a good experience with salon coloring but I would be willing to get it done if that's the best option.

Use 40 vol developer only. I've done that a bunch of times. It's less harsh than bleach but takes longer. I was able to get my hair to a honey light brown from dark brown with two sessions

Sorry, I have to disagree. 40 volume developer is more harsh and takes less time. I would suggest 20 or 30 vol. Also, you can try vitamin C powder or crushed up vitamin c tablets, in a clarifying (no oils) shampoo and lather it in your hair and leave it in for an hour.
