When I first started using makeup, all I had was pencil liners. I wore winged eyeliner almost everyday and it came out perfect. If you want it really thin or pointed, just make sure the pencil is sharp.Mine never smudged and you apply it pretty much the same way you would with liguid or gel.

Do you mean pencil for regular winged eyeliner? If so, no, it will not smudge. Pencil liners get a bad reputation, but honestly they're all I use. They're easy to apply, pigmented (depending on your brand choice, I prefer Urban Decay), and come in a wide variety of colors.

Yeah it would still work! It just has to be a good quality pencil liner, not those soft kohl ones. The thing about pencil liners to do winged liner is that the edges won't be as sharp and bold as a liquid would be, but it will still work. Some good pencil liners are the NYX Slide-On Liners and the Maybelline Master Drama pencils. Those have a formula that is very black and do not smudge.
My biggest tip is to sharpen the pencil you're using before application. To get a clean wing, you're going to need a fresh pointy tip on your pencil.
Hope this helped! :)

As long a it's a sharp, hard pencil as opposed to the soft kohl ones, you shouldn't have a problem. Just line your lash line and wing it out like you would with liquid or gel!

It won't be the most perfect thing, it'll look a bit more smudged but not in a bad way :) just not the way a liquid liner would precisely do it.
