Try a messy bun. I have short hair too and I do messy braids and it still works. But if that's a definitely. no go I'd say scrunch and twist small sections.

Ok. Take 3 inch wide sections an continuously twirl your hair with your finger and it will start tcoming into a bun so when you've got a little topknot thing, tie it off with a ponytail. Repeat to the rest of your hair. I do this a lot and it looks amazing. Dry it with a hair dryer in the morning before taking it out. Maybe some mousse would enhance the beachy look. Spray with hair spray and your done! I swear this will work :)
