I've been practising sock buns lately but I have long, silky, thick, layered hair...which is basically the antichrist when it comes to sock buns.??

Any tips to make the bun work better?

P.S. This is what I managed to do just now. Opinions? Should I make it messier, tidy it up or change where it's sitting?
