So I've been doing my own makeup as a hobby for about 3 years now, and it turned Ito a passion of mine. When I graduate, I know what college I'm going to, and what I want to do. And that's makeup artistry.

Anyways, you're going to need a little back story. I go to a school of performing and visual arts. It's a very big school, about 1700 kids. Our theatre program is top notch. We have our own full sized theatre.

I was recently offered a once in a lifetime opportunity to do the stage makeup for the shows, for as long as I go there. I accepted, and now I need to build a makeup kit for using on other people. But I don't know where to start! Advice? Tips? It's much appreciated. Thank you :)

What kind of budget are you working with? What do you already have? I'd love to help!

I want to start from scratch as I feel that using my own products would be unsanitary. So, in other words, nothing lol. My budget is around $300 max (:

I am a huge advocate two things: for mixing high and low, and for finding dupes, when on a budget. I am all about bargains, but sometimes you just can't get something good enough for less (this is very true with foundation, above anything else).

1. For most makeup, I highly recommend ELF on a budget. Also, promo code ECS50 gets you 50% off studio line products. These are the specific products that I recommend:
Eyes: any eyeshadow palettes, liquid or pen eyeliner, eyeshadow primer, brow kits
Lips: lip exfoliant or balms
Face: HD setting powder (a Make Up For Ever HD Powder dupe), HD blush, contour & blush powder kit, studio blush, correcting concealer, cover stick, cover everything concealer, baked highlighter, shimmering facial whip

2. For lipsticks, lip liners, and lip glosses, check out NYX Cosmetics. If you order online from them, use promo code "welcome25" for 25% off.

3. For foundations, check out Graftobian HD foundation palettes on Amazon. They are super pigmented cream formulas that are easy to blend, and the palettes give you numerous shades to do a variety of skintones or mix your own custom shades.

4. For the rest of your brushes, look into Sonia Kashuk brush sets at Target. They range from $15-$30, and they last a very long time.

5. For fake lashes, look into Red Cherry or Ardell lashes in bulk on Amazon.

I'd be happy to answer any questions and provide more assistance!

I'm in the same boat as you, I am a hairstylist branching into makeup to compliment my freelance career. I've definitely been searching for the simplest way to start my collection and I came across TEMPTU! check them out online, its buildable and customizeable foundations that can also be used in an airbrush machine if you want and they have some great starter sets at really reasonable prices.
