I personally have acne (mostly gone, just the hyper pigmentation type scars left) and I keep hearing conflicting views about this. Some say to lighten up your foundation to let your skin "breathe" and others say heavy coverage is fine. Currently I start with a mattifying anti acne primer that doesn't really do anything, MUFE's full cover concealer and also their mat velvet foundation. What do you think? Should an acne foundation routine be light or full coverage?

I started using Laura Mercier flawless face range and I have to say its a god send! I am now using less make up than I did with other foundations but I am getting better coverage!

hii .. i recommend to tap some foundation with your fingertips on the scars then u can stipple the rest of your face with little foundation just to even out the color 😁

Scars are lighter then your skin tone so I'd go a little darker but not too dark

go lighter with the foundation so you don't get cake face and just dab concealer on your blemishes.

Are you trying to hide scars? If so use a good concealer but if your trying to cover acne with makeup don't do it let your skin breath and don't try to cover it makes them stand out more no matter what especially in sun light.but if they're fading and not raised then should be fine.

I would do just a medium coverage foundation and then go a bit heavier with concealer on the spots you need it most. Foundation is really meant to just even your skin tone out a bit, so I wouldn't go too crazy with trying to cover with it. Concealer is definitely the way to go. And if you're looking for a different product that acts as a mattifying gel since you mentioned yours doesn't do much, I would recommend Philosophy's Clear Days Ahead acne treatment moisturizer. Its a light lotion that I use on my face before bed and under my makeup. It definitely has helped clear my skin up so much. It soaks up oil but is still hydrating so it doesn't strip your face of all moisture like some mattifying lotions I've tried.
