I have been looking for good quality makeup brushes for a long time and I haven't found any that are just amazing! I don't wanna spend a ton of money on Sigma/Mac brushes so I'm looking for inexpensive brushes that are just as good!

I recently purchased some Real Techniques brushes and LOOVVEE them! The face ones are around $8-10 and are awesome, then I bought a set of eye brushes for $9 (5 different brushes) I've never had any sigma or Mac brushes so I can't compare.

I got a beaute brush set for Christmas and I LOVE it. For 12-13 brushes, it's only $10 on amazon. I highly recommend them.

Thats a har one, you mostly pay what you get for, see if I was in your shoes I would invest in some mac ones little by little till you build your collection if you are looking for good quality brushes, I havent tried real techniques but wouldnt get them because they are synthetic jackie has explained the difference about synthetic and natural hair and how synthetic brushes suck up all the product never thought about it till she mentioned it and experienced it first hand I have eco tools brushes (synthetic) and have a hard time picking up my nars blush with it I have to keep packing the color on so one day I decide to try natural hair brushe with the nars blush and belive me when I tell you whn one sweep is all I needed I didnt have to keep going back in there it blew my mind away and the color was on point, this is why I would suggest building your brushes up little by little if you want good quality it will make a world of a difference

I am with lili on this. I don't think there is such thing as brush dupes because like lili said you get what you pay for. All brands basically have the same type of brushes (foundation brush, eye brushes and what not) but the quality is completely different. You would be surprised at how much better makeup looks with quality brushes. I understand not wanting to spend a fortune because I'm 20 and broke. save up and buy one brush at a time (I don't like sets anyways because you always get some you don't want and don't get some you do want. Also ask for them for birthdays and other things like that if you can.

Agree with the above ladies. Invest in quality. I l've used so many brands of brushes. BH Cosmetics, Sonia Kashuk, NYX, ELF, etc. I recently invested in two MAC eye brushes. They make all the difference and literally cut the time it takes me to do my eye makeup in HALF because they blend so effortlessly. Natural bristle brushes work with powders in a way that synthetic just can not. Learned this from Miss Jacqueline.
So for sure invest in a good set of brushes. It makes all the difference.

I would talk to Jackie, she knows brushes. I know she recommends bdellium brushes, amongst other ones, but I would ask her. If you want a decent for the price brand I would check out ecotools, and only certain real techniques brushes. For example I only like their duo fiber brushes, nothing else. I also recommend looking at Sedona lace brushes because they get really good reviews and they are pretty affordable... I also recommend looking at purchasing some Sephora brushes or Japonesque brushes.. Remember though, like Lili R. said, you get what you pay for...

I love Real Techniques. Like they are almost the only type I use now. And I have 3 of their new ones in the mail right now lol. I think they're great quality for a very reasonable price. I've heard that some people don't like them because they shed or aren't made well but I've never had a single problem with any of mine. They've never shed, never fallen apart and all have kept their shape quite well. I've had two of my sets for at least a year now and have had no issues. Of course the only issue is if you don't like synthetic bristles lol. Because all of theirs are synthetic. I really enjoy them though. They have a brush for everything and even if you don't buy all of the brushes for their intended use, they're very versatile and you can usually use one brush a variety of different ways with great results.

I'm also going to say that this is a invest/you get what you pay for situation.
When I was first starting in makeup I went through so many cheap/DS single brushes and kits, and my MU application/finished look was just not what I was going for, it wasn't good at all, lol. I know some of it was my fault because I was learning but a lot of blame also fell on the brushes. I finally got feed up, watched some Sigma reviews on YT decided it was a good idea and jumped on their site with my credit card ready to do some major damage, lol. I brought a set of 12 brushes I think without the brush roll, I think it was called the Pro set back in the day (There names and prices have changed of course), I also picked up some singles and a Shape and Dry, all for $120Usd. The first time I used them I was blown away but the application and my MU looked much much better. The moral of my story is...I still have all of these brushes in their perfect condition, never ever had a problem with them, and I brought them allmost 4 years ago! Actually one tiny problem but it doesn't affect the brushes in any way, the paint/lacquer on the handles has some small hairline cracking, but no paint is chipping off and it's nothing extremely noticeable, and has only affected 1 or 2 brushes, so no points off for me. Invest now, you save time, trouble, and money from having to constantly replace low quality brushes later :) And if you absolutely have to buy DS brushes, Sonia Kashuck black handles are the best.
*Steps down from Sigma soap box, I'm done here, lol*

I'm also a fan of real techniques. They don't have many brushes in their collection, but most of them are multi use. I mostly use their face brushes and for eyes I use sephora. Sephora's brushes are a little pricey (but cheaper if you get a set) but the end result is worth it.

Yeah, this is pretty "you get what you pay for". Since I'm on a tight budget and don't often use brushes (I use my fingers for concealer and blending), so I go for pretty cheap brushes. I like elf for drugstore and Bare Minerals for highend.

@Jacqueline: 0_0 I did not know that at all, oh no, I don't know how this could've happened I'm very carefull w/my brushes, make sure water doesn't get in above/around the ferrules, store in a cool dry place and always dry at an angle fibers down of course. Do you think I caused this? Or is this just something inevitable with time? Thank you so much for the info Jacqueline :)

@Jacqueline: Age must be it,it has been almost 4 years, I'll just keep being as careful as I am and buy backups for the brushes affected by the cracking, so when they finally give out I won't be without, Thank you again for your knowledge :)

Real Techniques and Ecotools brushes are often used by makeup artists and are really cheap.
