Yes why not. If you know what you are doing and are confident go ahead and do it. I was very nervous when I started but I kept myself confident. I practiced worked on my portfolio and here I am. I am doing well today. I worked to array of clients too. So my advice practice, build your portfolio and confidence and talent are 2 main things rest follows.

Thank you so much I'm just afraid my parents won't approve of me attending beauty school my cousin wanted to pursue her dream of being a freelance makeup artist and it was quickly shut down by her parents

I am pursuing a degree in health information management last year of my studies now. I did makeup school only for 2 months and worked made enough money and paid for it. It was worth it. My parents approved it at that time because I did well in college overall plus I took it in summer. So don't worry just ask them and say its great learning plus experience. Now when I see clients my parents are happy but moreover my grandmother :)
