Hair breakage

I've always had breakage around my face but it seems to be getting worse and worse! I have no idea why this is happening. I do get highlights about every 2 months but I only wash my hair every other day.. Sometimes 3 lol. I never use a straightener, rarely use a curling iron and sometimes I even air dry it. What am I doing wrong?
