Does anyone know how to achieve this hairstyle? Is it just like a French braid but then put into a ponytail?

Yup! Then just take a strand of hair and wrap it around the hair tie :)

What Mary said also the edges of the braid must be pulled out a little like a pancake braid ;) That's how the braid stands out more ;)

Once you are done with the braid grab a hair for the bottom leave it out and tie your hair. Then wrap and booby pin it :)
