I want to invest in some good eyeliner, but I can't decide between a gel or a liquid eyeliner. What do you prefer and why? I still consider myself a makeup beginner so I need something that's easy to use and apply 😊

I like liquid a lot but I think it's just a personal preference, if good quality both can go on smooth and look wonderful, I do think the right liquid pen will end up being easier to apply quickly.

If you're a beginner I would go with gel, or maybe a felt tip liquid liner. liquid gives more precision but it can be kind of tricky to work with. the Maybelline Eye Studio was my first gel liner purchase, & it was incredibly easy to work with - or at least I thought so (:

A lot of people like gel but I have always had better luck with liquid as far as lasting power, finish, application, etc.
Although, I only like liquid with felt tip liners (pen style), and my favorites are, Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner (really black and last all day) or Kat Von D's (I personally find it easier to apply than Stila's but it isn't as black because it has more of a matte finish than Stila's shinier finish).

I personally think gel is easier to work with but with either one practice makes perfect.

Gel easier to manipulate and stays longer in my opposition.

Liquid, for sure. As a beginner, liquid is easy to apply and gives you a more precise hand. It takes a bit of practice of course, and with the right liquid liner, you can rock that winged eye!

I like gel personally. I think liquid is very hard to work with and I always feel like I have NO control over where it goes. I also don't really like the look of most of them, they appear almost shiny or glossy at times. I also like a hard, crisp line but at times I feel like a line with liquid liner is just a touch TOO stark. This is all personal preference though. I think gel is just easier for me as well because it doesn't run into your eyes or smudge. It's a little more forgiving overall. But as Delaney mentioned, practicing with either of them will help you master whichever :)

Liquid definitely. I use Maybelline waterproof and it literally stays on all day but also very easy to take off. And it's NOT glossy either it dries matte. I swear by it. It costs around seven dollars but using it almost everyday, it still takes me months to go through the little bottle. It's a brush, so as a beginner, it might be a little challenge. But as everyone else says, practice makes perfect~ :)
